Nissan has officially taken the wraps off the next-gen X-Trail in Japan — which will be sold as the Rogue not if, but when it crosses the Pacific.
Although Nissan has offered its 'e-Power' hybrid powertrain with its hot-selling compact crossover for a few years now, it's exclusive to the X-Trail version sold in Asian and European markets. Nissan also currently sells a Rogue-badged plug-in hybrid, but it's little more than a rebadged Outlander PHEV to hold us over until the real deal arrives.

And this 2027 X-Trail — or Rogue, whatever you want to call it — is the real deal. Nissan says its e-Power hybrid powertrain will consist of a 1.5-litre four-cylinder gas engine, two electric motors, and a two-kWh battery pack. But unlike most conventional hybrids, Nissan's gas engine serves only as a generator for the electric motors.
Nissan hasn't announced any official specifications or fuel economy figures just yet, but the current X-Trail e-Power sold overseas puts out 210 horsepower, and rated at 6.4 L/100 km based on European testing.

Along with confirming the Rogue e-Power for North America, Nissan confirmed the reborn X-Terra is destined to return in 2028. The shadowy and rainy teaser image Nissan dropped shows the blocky lines, amber accent lighting, and yellow paint, but we couldn't make out much beyond that, so we took the liberty of lightening it up a bit. Better?

Nissan says the 2027 Rogue will launch in late 2026. Conveniently, the Los Angeles Auto Show takes place "late" in the year, too.
