Objectively speaking, the 2026 BMW i7 xDrive60 brings it all – a recognizable brand name, an impeccably smooth electric drivetrain, a state-of-the-art cabin filled with the latest technology and shimmering adornment.
Yet, after a week spent with this, I realized it is not the tangible things that had won my heart over, but the fact that it brings something I never knew I needed, definitely not from a car – sensuality.
Before you think this is one of those twisted love stories between a man and an inanimate object, let me clarify. Per Miriam-Webster, sensuality is defined by something relating to or consisting in the gratification of the senses or the indulgences of appetite, and I will attempt to dissect why this $204,250 electric vehicle brings me such a great feeling.

Exterior Design - SIGHT
Visually, the BMW i7 looks stately and commands respect. Say what you want about the ever-growing size of BMW’s signature kidney grille in recent years, I think it looks perfect on a full-size luxury sedan like this one.
The oversized front grille and slim headlight design sets the tone for what is expected of a flagship and the rest of the design has an equal effect. My favourite part is that how distinctive it looks when compared to other cars in the brand’s own portfolio – something I cannot say about its arch-rival from Stuttgart.

Interior accomodation - Touch
Through the optional automatic doors, I entered the BMW i7 where I could feel all of my senses being activated. The cabin is beautifully crafted; the layout and colour combinations are pleasing to the eyes, the Merino leather is silky to touch, the cool glass elements initiate a temperature play every time, and there is massaging function on all four outbound seats that give its occupants a tangible relaxation.
The rear seat on the passenger side can recline to a near-horizontal position at the touch of a button, but even with standard seating setup, there is ample space throughout such that no one will ever feel slighted.

Technology & Infotainment - Sound
The biggest indulgence comes from the BMW i7’s second-to-none theatre setup. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system is one of the most delicate treats found in a car – the surround sound is enveloping, the acoustic quality is crisp and sublime, the bass is felt through your entire body through the subwoofers inside the backrests, and the stereo system does an excellent job in replicating the environment you want to be in.
Whether it's a recording studio, a concert hall, or focusing on an immersive experience for only the rear passengers, Bowers & Wilkins and the audio engineering team at BMW have you covered.

Then there is the optional 31-inch theatre screen for the back-seat occupants that spans nearly the entire width of the cabin. It beats every rear entertainment system out there – the screen is vivid, the interface is intuitive and easy to use, and the sheer theatrical presentation had me wondering where this has been in all my life.
I love that lights from the outside are well isolated thanks to window blinds that automatically roll out to enhance the ambience, and the driver can simultaneously maintain a good view of the cars behind via a camera feed to the digital rear-view mirror.

Powertrain and charging - smell (from burnt rubber!)
In order to tickle all my senses, the BMW i7 xDrive60 must not only able to relax me but it must also excite. Lucky for me, there is 536-horsepower and 549 lb-ft. of torque that is ready to rock at any given moment.
Even with a car that is the size of this Bavarian flagship, it is not at all lacking in accelerative power, and its ability to tickle my internal adrenaline pump is uncanny. Zero to 100 km/h is clocked in at 4.7 seconds, but, believe me, it feels much faster than that if you dare to put your foot all the way down and hold it there.

To ensure the BMW i7 has enough juice to beat almost every car off the light while powering all the fancy gadgets inside, BMW engineers have fitted a whopping 105.7 kWh battery beneath the seats.
While BMW estimates a maximum drive range of between 591 to 625 kilometres, my real-world observation came in at around 450 kilometres which is reasonable for our winter season that typically demanding for electric vehicles. It can achieve a 10% to 80% charge in as little as 34 minutes using a level 3 charger with speeds up to 195 kW.
Our tester came with the optional Advanced Driver Assistance Package that gives the BMW i7 the ability to pretty much assume driving responsibility on highways, and I particularly enjoy how composed it feels – there are no sudden or unexpected movements, and it even manages to overtake slower vehicles ahead to maintain pace.

Summary - Taste(ful)
Base price of the 2026 BMW i7 xDrive60 is set at $153,900, and our loaded sampler platter of a car rang in at $204,250, which is not an insignificant amount but I also somehow found it palatable. These days, almost every flagship vehicle will run you north of $200,000, but I find the BMW i7 truly feels deserving of that price tag.
Of course, it helps that this BMW i7 checks off all the right boxes on the spec sheet, but for me, the reason it leaves me longing for more is the way it manages to leave a mark on every one of my senses. It led me to realize that the greatest form of luxury is not in the fancy things that one can see but rather the in the way it makes me feel, and for that, the BMW i7 does it better than most.
