Lamborghini has extended the Performante treatment to the 2027 Urus SE, bumping its plug-in hybrid into the 800-horsepower club and giving it a bit more EV-only range, too.

After a brief hiatus last year, the Urus Performante returns for 2027, this time with a plug-in hybrid powertrain to go along with some subtle styling updates. The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 remains, working with a permanent-magnet electric motor and a 25.9 kWh battery pack to produce 801 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque.

In case you're wondering, that's an 11-hp bump over the regular Urus SE, and a hefty bump over the last Performante which managed "only" 657 horses. Along with the power bump, Lamborghini introduced a number of software tweaks: the eight-speed automatic shifts faster, there's a new "6-D sensor" on board in conjunction with all-wheel-drive and optional Bridgestone semi-slicks to keep the shiny side up, and a new Rally drive mode that allows for more tail-happy shenanigans over loose surfaces without completely ditching the safety net.

What's that? Yeah, that's right. You can indeed spec this thing with 325-rear-section Bridgestone semi-slicks.

Lamborghini's published figures and specs paint the 2027 Urus SE Performante as a speedy beast despite its 5,452-pound curb weight. Floor it from a standstill and the Urus SE Performante hits 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds. Bury the brake pedal and the upgraded brakes — Lamborghini says the standard-issue carbon ceramics generate 10 per cent more braking power and cool slightly better than before — and the Urus SE Performante hauls its ass to a complete stop in 32.8 metres.

Once you've taken a moment to lose your lunch out the window, then get back on the skinny pedal, the Urus SE Performante rockets from zero to 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds and tops out at 312 km/h with enough tarmac and fortitude.

Lamborghini used carbon fibre and its signature wild styling to a functional advantage as well. Not only does the 2027 Urus SE Performante actually look meaner with its new front fascia and more-squat stance, the wider openings up front improve cooling, and the same carbon fibre wheel arches that contribute to that meaner look also have a series of small slots around the wheels to generate less front-end lift at speed.

But wait, there's more ... in the way of aerodynamic trickery. The roof-mounted carbon fibre wing shovels air down and over a more pronounced waist spoiler. Lower down, a physically larger and wild-looking rear diffusor all work in conjunction to generate three per cent less drag and 23 per cent more downforce than the standard Urus SE, but also 16 per cent more downforce than the last Urus Performante. Most importantly, it all looks wild, especially the exposed carbon fibre 'stripes' on the hood.

Elsewhere, the 2027 Urus SE Performante now uses a four-chamber air suspension setup, allowing for greater adjustability, a slightly greater sense of comfort, and appreciably less body roll over the previous Performante's coil-spring setup. There's also a new titanium Akrapovic exhaust on board, saving a few more pounds and adding a more dramatic soundtrack.

One seemingly unreported improvement to the 2027 Urus Performante is its EV-only range. Lamborghini says it's now 37 miles, or about 60 km, but is far too modest to point out that's a two-mile/four-kilometre improvement over the Urus SE's 35-mile/55-km estimates.

Last but certainly not least, the Urus SE Performante uses a redesigned infotainment interface with its 12.3-inch touchscreen, along with new material and colour options. There's even more carbon fibre trim, faux suede now on the dash, seats, doors, and headliner, and a new stitching-and-seat-accent motif.

Lamborghini has not announced further details on pricing and availability for the 2027 Urus SE Performante. Well, now what?
