GMC Hummer EV updated for 2027, now comes in yellow
Good news, folks! You can get a yellow Hummer again!
GMC detailed a series of updates this week destined for the 2027 Hummer EV, most notably the addition of a special edition, one-year-only package that commemorates the 25 years since the Hummer H2's debut.
The GMC Hummer EV Icon 25 is available as an option package on the upper-level 2X and 3X trims, and across both body styles. It's hard to miss the yellow paint — GMC calls it "Icon", a clear and direct throwback to the original H2.
Along with the paint, GMC swapped out the silver trim on the front fascia with a gloss black piece, went with an all-black-everything inside with the exception of the contrast stitching — should've been yellow — and updated some infotainment animations to show the H2.
Beyond the Icon 25 package, other updates for 2027 include a Tesla-style NACS charge port and even more colour options. Bi-directional charging, an option GM expanded to the Hummer EV partway through the 2026 model year that lets you power your home in a blackout — carries over into the 2027 as well.
GMC says production for the 2027 Hummer EV begins later this year in Michigan. Pricing will be announced just before they hit dealers.
Volvo's wagon-less phase might not last long
It's hard to believe, but Volvo's lineup is currently wagon-less. Word on the street is, that might change in a couple of years.
Automotive News reports sources within Volvo confirm the automaker is working on an electric sedan and wagon duo based on the same platform as the recently launched EX60.
Currently, Volvo plans to sell the duo in Europe, but the report's source says "adapting them for the U.S. wouldn’t be very difficult." The pair will be assembled in Europe, likely carry Volvo's familiar 60- and/or 70-series badging, and at least in the U.S., priced around the $50,000 mark.
Should Volvo follow through with this plan, the models could appear in North American dealers as early as 2028. Production is reportedly estimated at 10,000 units combined per year — so you already know they'll be a hot commodity among wagon fans.
Kia expands ev5 lineup with spicy new GT
Kia revealed a new addition to the EV5 crossover lineup, and it's ready to order right now. Meet the 2027 Kia EV5 GT.
It sits at the top of the EV5 lineup as the most expensive and most powerful trim. For $63,495, the EV5 GT puts out 302 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque — a sizable boost over the regular EV5 — and rolls on a unique set of 20-inch wheels.
Based on Kia's only picture of the 2027 EV5 GT, it doesn't look that much more aggressively styled over the standard EV5. We can pick out a slightly different lower front air dam, the aforementioned, seemingly GT-exclusive wheels, and as with Kia's other GT-baded EVs, bright green brake calipers.
Along with the new GT trim, Kia expanded all-wheel-drive to more EV5 trim levels. It's now a $2,500 option on the Wind, Land, and GT-Line trims; they also see a modest performance bump, to 261 hp and 284 lb-ft of torque.
Kia hasn't revealed a range estimate for the EV5 GT, but estimates the lesser AWD EV5s at 439 kilometres.
