A few months ago, we told you about the Mustang Dark Horse SC, an even-higher-performance version of the already hi-po Mustang Dark Horse. Except Ford wasn't forthcoming with all the details — specifically the most important one.

That changes today. Ford officially announced the 2027 Mustang Dark Horse SC puts out — drumroll, please — 795 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque. Tough.

That power doesn't come from a supercharged Coyote, but rather Ford's Predator engine, a 5.2-litre supercharged V8 used in the GTD and the outgoing GT500. As expected, it's a sizeable-enough increase over the old GT500's 760-ponies without stepping on the toes of the 815-hp Mustang GTD.

Oh, it's also considerably more powerful than the normally aspirated, Coyote-powered Mustang Dark Horse and its paltry-by-comparison 500 hp.

Along with the engine, the Mustang Dark Horse SC democratizes more GTD and GT500 bits. It uses a modified version of the GT500's seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, you can spec the same Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R track tires as the GT500, and the GTD's carbon-ceramic brakes reign in the party.

That being said, the Mustang Dark Horse SC is hardly a parts-bin special; it receives a long list of its own exclusive chassis, suspension, and cosmetic upgrades.
