Toyota is extending a series of updates to the Tundra for the 2027 model year, including a new trim level, freshened styling, and smarter driver assists.
The Tundra receives the Trailhunter treatment for 2027, but it keeps things simple with a short-but-sweet list of upgrades. On the hardware front, look for Michelin LTX Trail tires and bronze 18-inch wheels, Old Man Emu suspension bits, a locking rear differential, skid plates, and of course, the requisite Trailhunter badging.
All Tundra Trailhunters come with Toyota's Multi-Terrain Select off-road drive modes and crawl control as well, and that's it. Toyota is doing things a little differently here, positioning the Tundra Trailhunter just above the base SR5 trim, rather than treating it as the top-spec, most hardcore model. Probably because the TRD Hammer will eventually fill that role.
Elsewhere, the 2027 Tundra wears freshened styling. The Trailhunter's wheel design is a new to the Tundra lineup as a whole, while we can also pick out a reworked front fascia with a simpler and cleaner grille design. Toyota hasn't revealed what, if any, cosmetic updates the rest of the lineup will receive, but says the "updated design strategy supports a broader range of customer needs."
Other updates to the Tundra lineup include Toyota's newest infotainment. This means the larger 14-inch display is now standard on all grades to go along with its more smartphone-like looks and functionality. Toyota also updated the hardware tied to its active safety and driver assists for supposedly improved obstacle detection.
Toyota says the freshened 2027 Tundra will enter production this fall. Expect pricing and additional details — like exactly how much chrome the new-look Capstone will wear — around then.
