Enthusiasts of the current-gen Mazda MX-5 have been pretty vocal about their beloved little roadster's colour options — or lack thereof. Everyone seems to want a green ND, so Mazda is finally making it happen.

But it's not the green you think it is.

As the ND enters its eleventh year on the market, Mazda is introducing a new colour option. It's called Zinc Green Metallic, and after studying Mazda's limited selection of official press photos, we dig it.

Zinc Green Metallic is definitely not the shade enthusiasts were expecting. It's a slightly lighter and less saturated shade — one could even make the joke it's greenish-grey — with an icy metallic pop when the light appears to hit it just right.

Mazda says inspiration for this colour comes from a certain shade of zinc-based primer used as an undercoating for industrial products. Hey, we know just as well as Mazda inspiration can come from anywhere.

Mazda says availability for Zinc Green will vary by market, though it's a safe bet Japan will get it first. Mazda also hasn't specified what, if any additional updates are coming for the 2027 model year, but in the photos, we clocked a light grey soft top, silver Brembos, and maybe a brown interior.
